Gene therapy can hold the potential to be able to eliminate all genetic diseases. Will our ideals change if we live in a society without diseases and problems? The political impacts of gene therapy are easier to analyze. Lawmakers around the world will have to decide on what to do with gene therapy. Laws regarding its ethical and medical uses will also have be developed. In addition, with the advancement of gene therapy, other crucial technologies that are capable of working with gene therapy, such as stem cells, may also have to be decided to be used or not. Gene therapy will generate a greater division between party members and now issues about gene therapy will be included in other vital controversies such as gun control, health care, immigration, etc. A new federal administration might have to be produced to help regulate the use of gene therapy.
